What to expect

Here's how it goes.

Bring your PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch to the shop and we'll plug it in, recreate what's going wrong, and track down the real cause — that's the flat $60 diagnostic, and it comes right off your bill if you have us do the repair. Most console fixes, like clearing out an overheating system, sorting a stubborn disc drive, or swapping a worn part, are back in your hands in a day or two. A couple of problems — a broken HDMI port or a drifting joystick module — come down to tiny soldered parts, so we'll pinpoint exactly what failed and lay out your options, but we'll tell you straight that we don't do that microsoldering repair in-house yet.

Common questions

Common console repair questions

My console turns on but there's no picture on the TV — is the HDMI port the problem?

Often, yes — a bent or broken HDMI port is one of the most common reasons a console powers on but shows a black screen, though it can also be the cable, the TV input, or something deeper inside. Bring it in and the flat $60 diagnostic tells us for certain, and that $60 comes off your total if we do the repair. Here's the honest part: replacing an HDMI port is a microsoldering job, and we don't do that particular repair in-house yet — so if that's what yours needs, we'll pinpoint it exactly and walk you through your options instead of leaving you guessing.

Can you fix controller drift or Joy-Con drift, where the game moves on its own?

We can take a look for the flat $60. Sometimes drift clears up with a thorough cleaning of the stick, which is a straightforward fix. But a worn-out joystick module usually has to be unsoldered and replaced, and that microsoldering work is something we diagnose but don't do in-house yet — so for those we'll tell you plainly what's wrong and what your options are. We'd rather be upfront than promise a fix we can't finish ourselves.

My console keeps overheating and shutting off in the middle of a game — can that be fixed?

Usually, yes, and it's one of the more satisfying console fixes. Over the years dust packs into the fan and vents and the cooling paste inside dries out, so the system runs hot and shuts itself down to protect the hardware. We open it up, clean it out properly, and refresh the cooling so it can breathe again. It's a flat $60 to diagnose, credited toward the repair, and most overheating jobs are back with you in a day or two.

The disc won't load or keeps getting spit back out — is the disc drive worth fixing?

Bring it in and we'll find out — drives that won't read, won't take a disc, or keep ejecting are a common one for us. Sometimes it's a worn drive belt or a dirty laser we can sort out, and sometimes the whole drive needs replacing. The flat $60 diagnostic tells us which, and it comes off the total if you go ahead. We'll always give you the honest call on whether it's worth repairing before you spend anything past that.

Will I lose my saved games and downloads if I leave my console with you?

Our goal is always to fix your console without touching what's on it, and most repairs — cleaning, fans, ports, disc drives — don't disturb your games or saves at all. That said, we can't guarantee data on every console, especially if the storage itself is failing, so if your saves matter it's smart to back them up to the cloud or a USB drive before you come in, as long as the system still powers on. Tell us what's important to you when you drop it off and we'll do everything we reasonably can to protect it.

Whatever broke, we’ve probably seen it. Let’s take a look.

We don’t price repairs over the phone — we look first, so the number’s real. The $60 to look comes right off your repair, and walk-ins are always welcome. Look for the blue door with the stairs on the left side of the parking lot — knock if it’s locked, we’re here.
