What to expect

Here's how it goes.

Bring the laptop in and the first thing we do is confirm the screen itself is the problem and not the cable, backlight, or graphics behind it — that's the flat $60 diagnosis, and it comes right off your repair if you go ahead. If it's the panel, we match the exact screen for your make and model, install it, and test it before pickup, usually within a day or two once the part's in hand. Touchscreens and broken hinges get the same honest look.

Common questions

Common screen repair questions

My laptop turns on but the screen stays black — is it definitely the screen?

Not always, and that's exactly why we look before quoting anything. A black screen can be the panel itself, but it can also be a loose display cable, a dead backlight, or a graphics problem on the board — and those are very different repairs. We plug in and test it, often against an external monitor, to pin down the real cause first, so you're not paying for a new screen that was never the issue. That check is the flat $60, and it comes off your repair if you go ahead.

How much does a laptop screen replacement cost?

We won't throw out a number over the phone, because screen prices swing a lot depending on your exact make and model — a basic display and a high-resolution touchscreen aren't close in price, and a guess wouldn't be honest. What we do is charge a flat $60 to confirm the exact part your laptop needs and then give you a real, firm price before any work starts. That $60 comes right off the total if you move ahead with the repair.

Will I lose my files or photos when you replace the screen?

A screen swap doesn't touch your hard drive, so your files, photos, and programs stay right where they are — replacing the display is a separate part of the laptop from your storage. We still always suggest keeping your own backup of anything important, just as a good habit, but a normal screen replacement isn't a data risk and we treat your machine carefully either way.

Can you just fix the cracked glass instead of replacing the whole screen?

On most laptops the glass and the display are fused into one part, so the honest fix is to replace the whole panel rather than peel off just the glass — trying to separate them usually costs more and comes out worse. Touchscreen laptops work the same way, and we replace those as one complete unit too. When we diagnose it, we'll show you exactly what your specific model needs so there are no surprises.

How long does it take, and do I have to leave my laptop with you?

Most screen repairs are done within a day or two. The biggest factor is whether we already have your exact panel on hand or need to order it — common models can be quick, while less common ones take a couple of days for the part to arrive. If we're waiting on a part, you're welcome to take the laptop home and bring it back once it's in, and we'll call you the moment it's ready.

Whatever broke, we’ve probably seen it. Let’s take a look.

We don’t price repairs over the phone — we look first, so the number’s real. The $60 to look comes right off your repair, and walk-ins are always welcome. Look for the blue door with the stairs on the left side of the parking lot — knock if it’s locked, we’re here.
