Computer help in New Buffalo — evening house calls

New Buffalo is a harbor town where plenty of houses sit empty midweek and fill up on weekends. That makes tech trouble awkward: the cottage Wi-Fi gives out, the smart TV forgets its apps, or the laptop that only comes up for summer won't update, and there's no shop in town to call. I handle that with evening house calls here, after the South Bend shop has closed, from 6:00 onward.

You pay by the hour with a one-hour minimum, and the rate is spelled out when you book, before I head over. In that hour I can usually get the router talking to the whole place, sign the TV back into its streaming apps, clean up a laptop that's been offline for months, or set up a new computer for someone who lives here year-round. I explain what I changed so it keeps working when you're back next time.

When something needs a part or a bench repair, I'll quote it on the spot before doing anything, and the computer can head back to the South Bend shop and come home fixed. If you're passing through South Bend on a weekday, the shop takes walk-ins Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:30. Text me what's acting up and when you'll be in town, and we'll set it up.

Or just walk in during business hours, no appointment needed.

Can’t make it into the shop? We make daytime on-site service calls in New Buffalo too, your home or business, $149 for the trip and the first hour, shown when you book, and you can book a time online. Or skip the trip altogether: we pick it up, fix it at the shop, and bring it back, from $39 plus the diagnostic, priced by distance, with the exact price shown before you book.

Common questions

Questions from New Buffalo folks

We're only at our New Buffalo place some weekends. Can you work around that?

Yes. Let me know which week you'll be in town and we'll pick a weekday evening while you're there, so it's sorted before you head home. Many second-home problems come from the house sitting idle: updates pile up, the internet provider swaps equipment, or a password changes at home and the cottage devices never got the memo. Fixing it while you're on site lets me test everything with you.

The cottage Wi-Fi never reaches the porch or the upstairs. Can you fix that?

Usually. Older lake houses, add-ons and long layouts are hard on a single router. I check where the signal drops, try moving what you already have, and if that isn't enough, suggest a mesh or extender setup sized for the house. You get the equipment cost before anything is bought, and I'll set it up so the TV, laptops and any cameras all land on the same network.

Can you help with the smart TV and streaming apps too?

Yes, as part of the house call. Streaming boxes and TVs lose their logins, apps stop updating, or the TV ends up on a guest network that kicks it off. I get it reconnected, signed back in with your accounts, and tested. Computer work is the main thing I do, so I'll tell you honestly if a TV itself has a hardware fault that's better handled by the manufacturer.

Whatever broke, we’ve probably seen it. Let’s take a look.

Our flat prices are posted on the pricing page. The one thing we never guess at is the repair itself: we look first ($60, credited to your repair), then you get a real number before any work starts. Walk in, book a time, or text us a photo of what’s wrong. Look for the black door with our logo on it, straight ahead when you pull in, up the steps; knock if it’s locked, we’re here.
