Computer & device repair for Rolling Prairie

Rolling Prairie sits out in the open farm country of LaPorte County, between LaPorte and New Carlisle, and the computer trouble out here looks like it does anywhere: a laptop that takes ten minutes to wake up, a desktop that clicks and quits, a printer that forgot it was ever connected. The difference is distance. There's no repair counter in town, so the question becomes which drive is worth making.

Ours is about half an hour. Take US-20 east, pick up State Road 2, and it turns into Western Avenue as you roll into South Bend, which drops you on the southwest side, a few turns from our door. No interstate, no downtown traffic. Bring the machine in and we open it up, find the real fault, and tell you in ordinary words what it'll take and whether that's money well spent on a computer of its age. A $60 diagnosis gets you that answer, and it's credited to the work if you say go.

Some problems don't belong on a bench, though. If the trouble is a farm office printer, Wi-Fi that dies at the barn end of the house, or a new computer that needs everything moved over, a daytime house visit makes more sense: $149 covers the trip and the first hour, then $30 per 15 minutes after that, and a next-day or weekend slot is $49 more. If you'd rather nobody drive, book a pickup and we'll haul it both ways, priced by distance from $39 plus the diagnostic.

Or just walk in during business hours, no appointment needed.

Common questions

Questions from Rolling Prairie folks

What's the easiest way in from Rolling Prairie?

Head east on US-20 and follow State Road 2 when it splits off; it becomes Western Avenue inside South Bend and brings you right to the southwest side where we are, at 746 S Arnold St Suite 3. It runs about 30 minutes with no highway merging into city traffic. We're open Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:30, and you don't need an appointment to walk in.

Our farm office computer runs the books. Can you come to it instead?

Yes. When moving a machine means unhooking printers, scanners and a pile of cables, a daytime on-site visit is often the better call. It's $149 for the trip and the first hour, then $30 for each 15 minutes past that, and you'll see the price when you book. If it turns out the computer needs parts or bench time, we tell you the cost before anything leaves the building.

Is it worth fixing an older laptop, or am I better off replacing it?

It depends on what failed and how old it is, which is exactly what the $60 diagnosis answers. A worn-out hard drive or a tired battery on a decent machine is usually worth replacing, and a fresh solid-state drive can make it feel faster than new. A cracked motherboard on a ten-year-old budget laptop usually isn't, and we'll say so plainly rather than talk you into it.

Whatever broke, we’ve probably seen it. Let’s take a look.

Our flat prices are posted on the pricing page. The one thing we never guess at is the repair itself: we look first ($60, credited to your repair), then you get a real number before any work starts. Walk in, book a time, or text us a photo of what’s wrong. Look for the black door with our logo on it, straight ahead when you pull in, up the steps; knock if it’s locked, we’re here.
